PRESS RELEASE: Less than 20% of the engineering workforce are women so how can employers increase that number?

Job marketing specialists JVP Group and Arriva TrainCare, part of Arriva Group, are teaming up on Wednesday 21^st June for a free webinar that will look at how employers can attract and inspire more women to work in the engineering industry.

With women making up 16.5% of the engineering workforce (EngineeringUK 2022), employers need to continue to find ways to increase this number to ensure a more diverse and inclusive workforce. In this upcoming webinar guest speaker Linzi Jones, Recruitment Business Partner at Arriva TrainCare, will share some of the challenges the company has faced when it comes to talent attraction. She will be discussing the work they are doing around diversity and inclusion, and explaining how the Group’s new inclusion strategy is already helping to create action and deliver change. Linzi will also outline some of the practical steps they have taken to attract more women into Arriva Traincare.

Alongside this, webinar host JVP Group talent attraction partner Charlie Wetton, will share specialist advice on a variety of topics, including how to construct an employee value proposition and how to create targeted job adverts that will encourage more women to apply for engineering sector opportunities.

Charlie explains, “We know from experience that engineering has always been a difficult sector to attract women into, but things are changing. Organisations are doing excellent work to become more inclusive and appeal to more women – and it’s really important to make sure that is being clearly articulated to prospective candidates. This webinar aims to inspire employers about what they can do to make sure those messages are being clearly heard.”
