New vacancies up 25% in first half of 2014

The Reed Job Index, which tracks the number of new vacancies available across every industry and in every region of the UK, shows there were 30% more vacancies available in June 2014 compared to the same month last year.

Amongst the fastest-growing industries so far in 2014 are Construction & Property (+61% more vacancies year-on-year), Motoring & Automotive (+51%), Transport & Logistics (+45%) and Manufacturing (+42%). There has also been notable growth in support services, such as in the Legal sector (+66%) and Estate Agency (+42%).

Every UK region showed year-on-year growth during the first half of 2014. Wales saw the largest growth, with more than 39% more new vacancies than in the same period last year, whilst Northern Ireland saw the slowest growth at 17%.
