JVP’s fitness fanatics Sion Jones and Glen Urquhart recently triumphed in the RunFest ½ marathon, raising a whopping £259.44 for the great cause that is St David’s Hospice.
Hundreds of runners attended the race, which took place along the promenade in Rhyl on Sunday the 23rd of June. With neither Sion or Glen having experience of going this distance previously (13.1 miles!), both were determined to smash the 2 hour mark and help support local charity St David’s Hospice.

St David’s Hospice provides hospice care to adult patients across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey - delivering specialist palliative care to patients with advanced illnesses, their family and carers. Being well aware of the charity’s amazing work across North Wales – Sion and Glen were hoping to raise money and help make a difference to local patients and support the team continue to run the superb services.
Sion, who completed the run in 1 hour, 54 minutes and 8 seconds, said: “It was a tough race on such a hot day, but we both really enjoyed it and I’m thrilled to have finished in under two hours. A massive thank you to everyone who donated, it really did give me that extra push towards the end as my legs turned to jelly!”
Glen, who completed the run in 1 hour, 50 minutes and 24 seconds, said: “This was an excellent opportunity to challenge myself and push my fitness boundaries, and most importantly to help the amazing team at St David’s Hospice. I’d like to say thank you to all of the hard-working volunteers who spurred us on throughout the day, and of course to everyone who donated.”
