According to the Office for National Statistics, the three months leading up to November saw the number of people in employment rise by 48,000 compared to the same period in 2014.
After falling by 11,000 in the same period, the unemployment rate in Wales fell to 5.5%, with the UK’s overall unemployment falling to its lowest rate in more than a decade after hitting 5.1%. The overall number of unemployed people in Wales has fallen by 22,000 over the course of the last year, with the Welsh government saying it was joint largest reduction in the unemployment rate of anywhere in the UK.
If you’re an employer, do you think this is a positive sign for the economy in Wales? Or do you still feel there is still uncertainty around growth in Wales, particularly with the news that Tata Steel are planning to cut 750 jobs?
