In 2012 47% of workers belonged to a pension scheme, 18
months down the road and that number has now increased to 59%. This is mostly
down to the fact that the government has introduced automatic enrolment into
the workplace, now anyone who is eligible is automatically registered for
pension membership.
Membership of younger workers in their 20’s has risen significantly
since 2013 from 37%. But the future looks a little brighter for young workers
with 53% of them now with workplace pensions.
The statistics also show that some of the country’s most successful businesses are giving back to their workers, with staff from the largest employers benefiting the most. Those who employ over 500 staff now have 76% of employees registered on a pension membership.
