Less Common Metals (LCM) is a world leader in the
manufacture and supply of complex alloy systems and metals, specialising in
those based on rare earth elements. LCM employs over 35 dedicated professionals
and the growing company has seen heavy investment in recent years including the
introduction of a significant vacuum furnace capacity to fuel its exciting
growth plans.
The Scenario
Having fostered a positive and friendly culture, and
with a steady stream of exciting projects, retaining people wasn’t the problem
for Less Common Metals – it was recruitment fees for newly created roles that
was causing a financial headache.
Traditionally relying on recruitment agencies, the
company was spending thousands in fees for each hire. With a variety of roles
available, ranging from Chemists and Process Engineers, to Marketing Officers
and Project Managers, recruitment agency fees could range anywhere from £4,000 to

Evolving at such pace, the company were reliant on
